Peiris the Lankan hope in swimming

Mr. Liyanage is the assistant secretary of the National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka. He is currently the vice-president of the Sri Lanka Basketball Federation having served prior to this as secretary general of the body from 2006-2012. Led Team Sri Lanka as chef de mission at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi and as deputy chef de mission at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia. An aircraft maintenance engineer by profession, Mr. Liyanage served in the Sri Lanka Air Force for 25 years before retiring as a Wing Commander. Was awarded two bravery medals for outstanding leadership and courage in the face of enemy threat while in action on humanitarian operations during the war as a flight engineer. Has logged over 1300 flying hours in Mi-17 helicopters conducting troop induction, casualty evacuation and other air operations. He was educated at Ananda College and is a graduate of the University of Colombo where he obtained both a bachelors degree as well as a Masters in Business Administration.
