Jayasinghe Arachchige Gamini Jayasinghe is a dynamic, results-oriented leader with a strong track record of performance in turnaround and high-paced organisations. He is a proud alumnus of Dharmaraja College, Kandy and earned his Bachelor in Business Management; Masters in Sociology; and MPhil from University of Kelaniya. In addition to them, Gamini has completed Diploma in Criminology at University of Sri Jayawardanapura; Diploma in English Language at Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration; Sports Administration Course at NOC Sri Lanka; Diploma in Business Management and Human Management; International Diploma in Human Resources from IDM Nation Campus; and International Higher Diploma in Computing in the Faculty of Computing from the IDM Nation Campus.

Gamini has thirty-seven years of unblemished carrier in the Prison Department of Sri Lanka and thus having held commanding, administrative and instructional appointments, and as a Commissioner of Prisons, Prisons Department with a Degree and expertise in Criminology, Human Psychology, and Finance Management. At present, Gamini serves as the Director of “Jeewanabhimani National Program” which comes under the preview of President Secretariat as well as a lecturer of Kelaniya University, IDM Campus, IBS Institute and also a visiting lecturer at Prisons Department and many other non-government organisations.

Gamini has served as a Treasurer at National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka more than a decade until 2018 and gained experience in financial management and sports administration at international level. In addition to his sports and social activities, presently Gamini engages with national drugs rehabilitation process as a Member of Presidential Task force on Drug Prevention and Rehabilitation.

In sport, Gamini was treasurer of Handball Federation of Sri Lanka; General-Secretary of Sri Lanka Hockey Federation; Vice-President of Government Services Hockey Association; Chairman of Hockey Prison Sports Club; Development and Coaching Committee member of the Asian Hockey Federation; and now the President of Teqball Federation of Sri Lanka.

Moreover, Gamini was selected for the Sri Lanka Hockey Team on several occasions and toured India, Pakistan and Singapore; represented and captained the Prisons Department Hockey Team from 1980 - 1985 and represented the State Services Hockey Association from 1980 - 1989; also captained the State Services Hockey Association team in 1986 which emerged joint champions in Matale. Further, Gamini is an International Hockey Umpire and had officiated in the Asia Cup held in Hong Kong in 1997, national championships, and international tournament in overseas as well; officiated as technical officer in the Asian Games in 2010 and 2014 in China and South Korea, respectively.

Gamini has represented the Summer Olympic Games London - 2010 as the National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka Delegate; was a Chef de Mission for South Asian Games in 2010 and Deputy Chef de Mission for South Asian Games in 2019; Chairman Technical Committee of the 1st South Asian Beach Games held in Hambantota, Sri Lanka in 2011.

Gamini has followed many international courses and seminars such as ICRC Balancing Security and Humanitarian Needs Within Prisons in Geneva in 2016; ICRC-ICPS Management Development Course in 2013 in Geneva; ALOLOP – International Society of Sport Psychology Yugoslavia in 2015; Technical Director for the South Asian Games in 2006; CBO Official Delegate for the Summer Olympic Games - Beijing, China in 2008; Chef De Mission seminar for the SAG 2010 in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Gamini has represented Sri Lanka Team as overall Manager for the Commonwealth Games, Glasgow 2014; NOC Sri Lanka as a delegate at the Summer Olympic Games London - 2012; Sri Lanka as Technical Official at the Asian Games, Incheon, South Korea in 2014; NOC Sri Lanka at the Forum Held in Doha Qatar for the Asian Games.
